Planning Egypt

Planning Abu Simbel

Road, air and overnight visits are genuinely different products; the right choice depends on time, tolerance for travel and current operations.

Abu Simbel is one of Egypt’s most recognised archaeological destinations, but planning it is as much about transport as the temple visit itself.

By private road

A road journey requires substantial travel time from Aswan. It can be an efficient private option, but the early start and long return should be described clearly rather than softened in marketing language.

By air

Flying reduces road time but introduces flight schedules, airport transfers and airline-dependent timing. Flights should never be described as included unless the selected commercial option actually includes them.

Overnight

An overnight plan can reduce the pressure of a same-day return and may suit guests who want more time in the area. The exact hotel and programme must come from the approved operating record.

Why the monuments matter

The rock-cut temples are associated with Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari, and their relocation during the international Nubian rescue campaign is an essential part of their modern history. Current access, schedules and tickets should always be checked close to travel.
